The price of water will increase in 2025

In 2025, the price of water in Barcelona’s metropolitan area will increase around 6%, being added to 2024’s 11% increase. This increment is due to factors such as the rise of the IPC and the need to invest in infrastructure to ensure the supply throughout the drought. From the most important expansions the enlargement of Trinitat’s water treatment plant and the improvements on Sant Joan Despí’s wells stand out.

Impact: The enterprises in sectors such as agriculture and manufacturing will percive an increase in their operational costs, whilst the consumers will feel the impact on their water bills.

Opportunities: The enterprises can adapt by investing in water saving and reusing technologies, which not only reduces costs, but improves their reputation in a market that values sustainability as well.
